Day 37 of 365

Our little runaway.

Last Friday, our dog decided to make a run for it and escape from us and getting a taste of what it's like to be living " on the wild" side. :-)
He didn't get far. Down the street from us, he saw a female dog that he just couldn't resist and tried to dig his way into her yard. Well , her owner saw that and wasn't too pleased and called the dog catcher on him. His freedom was very short lived.
Monday morning we found out he was in doggy jail.
Well, my husband paid his "bail" (fine) and brought him back home. :-)
He seemed to be very happy to be back home again and we are very happy to have him back. We missed him A LOT !!!!!
Little rascal.

Look at me. I'm so sweet and innocent. :-)

Day 34 of 364

"The little Tomato that could"

I found this little fellow today.

I haven't watered my plants in weeks. There was no use. It has been just way too hot for anything to grow right, so you can imagine how surprised i was when i found this little guy today.
You can see how brown and dead the plant looks, like i mentioned before , i haven't watered in weeks and we haven't had any rain here lately either (unless my dog "watered" it ;-)...)but yet ,it has a tomato growing. I find that amazing. :-)
I'm not sure what to do with it now though? Eat it? Leave it for the birds and ants? Contact the people from the "Guinness Book Of World Record" books and tell them "Look, this tomato grew despite the worst drought on record here in this area!"? ;-)
We'll see.
What would you do with it?

Day 32 of 365

German Goodness !!! :-)

Every once in a while i have the opportunity to shop at one of my favorite (online) stores - GermanDeli.com !! It is a paradise for every expat German living in the USA.
There , you can buy pretty much everything you would get in Germany - candy, meat, cosmetics, breads, soups, sauces, chocolate!!!! , whatever you're craving or missing, you can get it there.
Sadly, i don't get to shop there a lot. Most of their products are imported from Germany, which means they can be a bit pricey. Understandably so though. BUT, this week i was able to order a few things. One of the items were poppy seed hard rolls. One of my favorites. I used to eat that stuff all the time. Anything that had poppy seeds in them , i ate - rolls, cakes.....mmmmmm...my tummy growls just thinking about it. :-)
This morning my daughter and i had 'fresh out of the oven' poppy seed rolls. We spread Nutella on them and let me tell you , they were SO delicious !!!! Mmmmmm....I might bake some more tomorrow !

Don't they look scrumptious?!

Deliciousness x2
